v0.1.3.4 - Hiding, bug fixes, and much more!


I've been hard at work with project management and working on the game itself! There have been many changes I'm excited about and hopefully so much more to come after! I'm proud of some achievements in time frames I've been in. I've taken only a few days off and I plan to take Saturday and Sunday off. Today is finally the release of this update and I can take a short break because my mind is been on fire learning so many new concepts and teaching myself different approaches to coding this game.

Summary of changes

  • The player can now hide.
  • The player now has a circular body and new graphic!
  • Stamina now tells you that you're out of stamina.
  • The monster no longer pushes the player.
  • The player can now accelerate away from the monster.
  • The player now has boundaries and must hide to get a break.
  • Stamina recharges depending on the players movement.
  • There is now a heartbeat system enable option, super early development.
  • You can now restart the game by quitting the the main menu (ESC)

Additions / Changes

  • Added new player physical body, you are now a circle!
  • Added new player graphic!
  • Added new bullet graphic!
  • Added main menu!
  • Added options in main menu!
  • Added escape / restart method! (ESC)
  • Added hiding mechanics.
  • Added console info for builds.
  • Added boundaries for the player.
  • Added heartbeat system, early development and unrefined. (Disabled)
  • Changed the font for the GUI.
  • Changed the GUI/UI system.
  • Changed the way the monster rotates so it can be smoother.
  • Removed old player graphic.

Fixes (v0.1.3.1-3)

  • Fixed bug where the monster wouldn't hurt the player after being stunned if the player entered the hitbox before the stun timer was up.
  • Fixed stamina showing as it's value (-0) when out of stamina.
  • Fixed the monster pushing the player.
  • Fixed player being unable to accelerate away from the monster.

Bugs

  • Bug #001: Fullscreen setting breaks on second left monitor when disabled. (Engine problem) (Known on Linux)

Tweaks

  • Tweaked the monster speed, it has been increased!
  • Tweaked the player melee hitbox.


Note: Quitting to the main menu will reset the level.


Another word from the developer

There is currently a monster placeholder in the game, I've just yet to apply the new graphic, I think it would be a good idea to refine it more and make it look more diverse before applying it, I will add this new graphic and adjust the monster itself in v0.1.4.x or v0.1.5.x when I think it's time. I also may scrap the current graphic and have something else produced!
